We always take the final measurements ourselves, because a shade that is 6mm wrong is a shade that binds. But a rough measure up front helps us price properly before we visit.
Inside mount vs outside mount
Inside mount sits within the window recess for a tidy, built-in look and needs enough depth for the cassette. Outside mount fixes to the wall or trim above the opening, covers more glass and blocks more light leak.
Taking the numbers
Use a steel tape, never fabric, and record to the millimetre:
- Width at the top, middle and bottom of the opening
- Height at the left, centre and right
- Recess depth from the glass to the front edge of the trim
- Note any handles, cranks or tile that the shade must clear

Send your numbers with a photo of each window and we will come out with fabric samples, confirm the measurements and quote on the spot at no cost.
